My new blogspot

I haven't really blogged here in quite a while, in case someone noticed. I started a new one with Wordpress that you can check out if you so choose at pattyleblanc.wordpress.com. If you happen to check it out, post a message so I know you've been there.

My dad is still in the hospital

I talked to my dad last night on the phone. He called me to tell me that on his MRI they found that he had a small stroke. The initial plan had been to send him to a nursing home for nine days to rehabilitate and do some physical therapy, but with that new finding the doctor wanted to keep him in the hospital to do some more tests. I haven't talked to him yet today. I talked to my last night also. She lives in Alaska, so obviously they are divorced. She is planning on moving here to help take care of him at his home. This is quite an awkward situation for me because I don't really know her, but yet her help is needed for my dad because I can't do it all. I don't know how it will be to be around her because I'm not very comfortable even talking on the phone to her. God is trying to grow me in some areas, but right now I'm just not sure how I feel about that. Anyway, that's the scoop on that.

Another unexpected day

I started off the morning finishing the second day of the transcription conference. That lasted until about noon and then I came home. I listened to the message on the machine from the fire department that my dad had called them out four times today and for me to call them back. I ended up going out to my dad's house because they were called out there again. My dad had fallen four times today and then even fell again while I was there. The fireman recommended that I take my dad to the hospital, so I did. We got there at around 1:45. We finally got called back at 4:30. I just got home at about 8:45 and when I left they had just brought him some dinner and were still waiting on a room to admit him to. He will at least be in the hospital overnight, but I don't know what to do from there. I have been struggling with this issue for a while now, trying to figure out how to get some care for my dad in the house. So, now the issue is a bit more pressing and I have to figure it out even quicker than I had planned. So, that was my day. Just another unexpected day!!

Medical Transcription Conference

Today I went to a Medical Transcription conference for Washington state. There were some very good speakers. There was a financial planner talking about long-term care insurance. I was very interested in this, as this is what I am dealing with right now for three members of my family. My grandfather right now is in a nursing home, my grandma was just recently in the hospital, and my dad's left side is paralyzed and recently his driver's license was suspended and he has been having dizzy spells. I am the one who makes most of the decisions for all of them and there are so many issues to deal with that I am swimming in the choices and decisions to make. Anyway, I talked with the speaker afterwards and we had a nice discussion. The conference has been fun for meeting other people in the same line of work as well. I met one woman who saw my Harley T-shirt and asked if I ride. She rides too, so we discussed our motorcycles and learning to ride. The conference will also be tomorrow with a few more speakers. I am enjoying it so far and look forward to tomorrow. I was also promoting my friend's new book that was just published in September. She is also a medical transcriptionist in Washington state so I wanted to support her. She wrote a book called "A New Promise" and her name is Julie Eller. So if you like to read, she has written a teriffic book that I think you would really enjoy.

My first blog

Well here I go at joining the world of blogging. I have had a few experiences with it, but have never really been serious about it. I think this will be quite fun and I am looking forward to meeting new people with similar interests and getting more practice at writing. Hopefully with more practice I can improve my skills and work on writing a book one day. It's a long-term goal, but I guess everyone has to start somewhere. I have written book reviews briefly just on other blogs that I've done. I read a lot of books and thoroughly enjoy them. I mostly read Christian fiction, but have occasional read other works of fiction as well.
